The Historical Elevator was built in 1907 by a philanthropist businessman named Nesim Levi Bayraklıoğlu. At that time, there was a steep slope of about 58 meters between Mithatpaşa Street and the Halil Rıfat Paşa neighborhood. It was difficult for the elderly and children to climb this steep hill. Built to overcome this difficulty, the structure gradually ceased to be just a means of transportation and became one of the city’s cultural symbols
